Video release date: July 8, 2010
Debut album release date: Nov 3, 2009

Candi and the Strangers release their first video for title track, "Tetsu". These ethereal Austin, TX natives officially formed January 2009 after their producer, Erik Wofford (The Black Angels, Voxtrot, The Octopus Project), decided to step out from behind the mixing board and join John, Samantha, Angie and Greg. Lush arrangements, driving beats, layers of vibraphone, organ, omnichord and guitar mix with honeyed female vocals to produce a sound which gives a nod to the bright French yé-yé paired with haunting electronica and shoegaze.

After releasing their self-titled debut album, the band contributed six instrumental tracks for the SXSW audience choice spotlight premiere "Richard Garriott: Man On A Mission", which chronicles Austinite's civilian ride to the International Space Station via the Russian Space Program. The movie just won the silver at Park City Music Fest for Best Impact of music in a documentary. The band's 2nd full-length release is planned for Summer of 2010.

Austin Sound review:
"There's something intentionally seductive layered into Candi and the Strangers LP - a permeation of sex into dark, driving, indie-rock, which makes for good listening by principle (think of the successes of international act the XX, or the awkwardly erotic phonetics of Nico with the Velvet Underground.) A little tension is good, and Candi and the Strangers seem to revel in the fusing of dark, bedroom-style synth-pop with breathy, subdued, near-hypnotic female vocals."
