Candi And The Strangers Release "10th Of Always"on February 8th, 2011
Sophomore Album From Austin, TX Cinematic Dream Pop Darlings
Candi And The Strangers will be releasing their sophomore album, 10th of Always, on February 8th, 2011. The album was written soon after producer Erik Wofford (Maserati,The Black Angels, Voxtrot, The Octopus Project) joined the band in early 2009. The songs were arranged to convey a grand cinematic feel in a live context, enhanced through numerous performances during 2009 with the addition of live visualizations from Austin artist Fishlegs. The band entered Wofford's studio, Cacophony Recorders in late 2009, setting out to make a record inspired by The Velvet Underground yet danceable. The title track, 10th of Always, is a reference to the NYC bar where the band's namesake, Candy Darling, Andy Warhol and his strange cast of characters fostered a creative magnetism in the 60's. Candi And The Strangers combine their psychedelic live set with dark angelic orchestrations inspired from their film score work during 2009 and 2010 to make a sonic landscape reminiscent of french dream pop, infused with beautiful noise. They will spend the rest of 2011 furthering their relationship to sight and sound with an audio-visual full-length animation feature titled Children Of The Tone and more film score work.
